Its been a while since my last post. Today I just wanna share the message I shared in my Fellowship (TRINITY) last night. As always, we do expository teaching where we go through the book of the bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. We’ve been studying the book of Galatians and last night we were in the end of chapter two.
Just a little sharing about the book of Galatians, it is actually a letter sent by Paul the apostle to the churches in Galatia. So, Galatia was not a city. It was a territory. It encompassed an area that is now in Turkey. There were several churches founded by Paul in Galatia. And following Paul's evangelistic efforts through the area and the founding of many churches, there were men who came in and they began to pervert the gospel that Paul had taught, the gospel of grace. And they began to preach another gospel which is not a gospel.
I was like, you know hit by verse 20.
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that [life] which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, [the faith] which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. (GALATIANS 2:20)
The verse is very strong. I didn’t really prepare the message last night, I just read through from verse 17. But as I was sharing I felt that the Holy Spirit is working and the words just come out. I believe God wants us to understand that we are already dead to the law and now we are living the life of Christ. We are not under the law but under grace.
But just because we are under grace, doesn’t mean we can do anything we like, doesn’t mean we can sin. Living under grace doesn’t make us without responsibility! Verse 20 of chapter 2 says :
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me.
We were dead with Christ. Our old life died with Christ and when Christ was resurrected we also were resurrected with him, BUT it is no longer our life but the life of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says : “Wherefore if any man is in Christ, 8 [he is] a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new”.
So, what I’m saying is, you cannot live as you want! That’s what I mean by responsibility. You are living the life of Christ. Since this is His life that is given to you and I, we are to bring His presence wherever we go. Since this is His life, He has the absolute right to do anything He wants with it. Let Christ lives in us. Let Him do His work through us. We are just vessels. Letting Christ lives in us is not simply about doing His work. The meaning is actually deeper than that. When we were resurrected with Him, He gave His life to us. And since this is His life that means any plan, any dream, any goal that we are pursuing should be of Him. We are not living our own agenda. If we live, we live for Him. Why? Because this is not our life, its His life. We don’t come to Him forcing Him to grant all our wish, instead, we should be asking for His will and plan for us. Trust me, He knows better. I learn to lay down my right and let His will be done in my life.
I’m a dreamer, and too many times I ask God to help me making my dreams come true. I would do anything, but many are times I ended up disappointed knowing that some of my prayers are not answered, until I found out that I’m not pursuing His dream but mine.
Friends, we all have dreams but don’t let them blind us to the fact that God also has dreams for us! We may have been praying for something, we may have been forcing God to do something for us, but let me tell you, no matter how spiritual your dream may seem, we need to ask God if that is what He wants.
I learn that it is actually dangerous if God just gives us what we want. We don’t know what’s gonna happen in the future, HE DOES! Look at it this way, if God doesn’t answer your prayer its because He knows somethings gonna happen in the future and it will harm you, while Jeremiah 29:11 says that His plan is not to harm you. He is the eternal God, He’s out of time and He sees the end from the beginning. He knows better! Many times we think we know better than God, we think that certain job will the best for us, or that certain person will be the best spouse, or this or that and the last thing we know is we create our own dreams and then we come to God and ask Him to grant our wish. Do you remember the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15? He asked for his inheritance from his father while his father was still alive. Many are times we become very smart that God has to finally say yes to us. We should be careful actually if God just answer our prayers like that. Remember what happened with this younger brother in the story of the prodigal son? He went having fun with his friends, but look who were his last companions in the end? PIGS!
I don’t want to end up that way. I know its hard to lay down your dream but its even harder to have an unhappy ending. I believe it is wiser to ask God to burn away all desires and dreams that are not of Him instead of working so hard for a not God given dream. Remember, this is not your life! Since this is His life, if He gives you a dream it is Him who will make it happen. I’m glad that I have a Father in heaven who will not always say yes to me. I know nothing about my future but He does know everything. That is why if He is not answering you, He’s actually keeping you from harm that might happen to you in the future. We need to understand that sometimes God’s silence means His protection. This is why I don’t agree with the teaching of “Name it and claim it”. If we know that something is not of God Why would we claim it? We’re actually putting our lives in danger doing that.
Keep reminding your self that this is His life! Verse 20 goes on by saying : “: and that [life] which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, [the faith] which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.”
If we understand that this is the life of Christ, we would be very careful with it. You’re responsible with it.
So this life is no longer about you, but is about Christ. You live this life in faith in the Son of God, knowing that whatever He does is the best for you because He loves you so much.
Well, that’s all for today. I will share more about this verse in my next post I hope it blesses you. I pray that we all learn to lay down our right, lay down our dreams and let His will be done on us.
God bless you all
